India Gate is War memorial in Delhi. It is one of the oldest monuments in Delhi. Its construction started on 10th February 1921 and completed on 12 February 1931. It was built as a tribute to undivided Indian Army soldiers during the first World War I. The material used to make this monument is yellow and red sandstone and granite. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The Indian gate is accessible from all parts of Delhi and one can reach here by bus, auto and taxis. The nearest metro station to this gate is Central Secretariat on the yellow and violet line junction.
